SANDBOX—Not realizing that he was simply typecast to advance a contrived love-triangle, a K-drama second male lead was found making all the right moves to engender a healthy romantic relationship with the show’s main love interest. “It’s more important that I show a selfless kind of love, protecting her even when she does not yet know her real identity,” the second male lead said to himself. “I’ll be there for her to help her in pivotal plot points, but be mature enough to step out of the picture when first male lead makes a forced appearance.”
Despite pleas from fans calling for the lead actress to end up with the obviously better guy, writers were found pairing the main love interest with the bad boy – maintaining the destiny of second lead syndrome.
