SEOUL—Veteran performer and label executive Park Jin-young (JYP) was found huddled behind a computer monitor in a dimly lit room whispering his name to himself after a series of failed contract negotiations to retain Yugyeom within GOT7.
“He got me,” JYP said of Jay Park’s rumored signing of Yugyeom to the AOMG label. “That AOMG Jay Park boomed me.”
At a recent press conference, Kim Yugyeom commented on who’s better, JYP or AOMG: “I don’t compare companies with each other.” The entertainer then rolled up his sleave and showed a tattoo of Jay Park. “I’ll let you interpret that however you want.”
“He’s so good,” JYP quietly repeated four times.
Later that afternoon JYP was spotted filming a comeback music video with Jay Park. “Jay Park is at the top of the list of artists that I’ve wanted to collaborate with over the summer” the 49-year-old entertainer remarked, who continually relies on the collaborations of young talent to maintain his relevance.
